Very few players have been as consistent as Paul Pierce has been for the Boston Celtics since entering the league as a rookie in 1998. Even after almost loosing his life in 2000 during an incident at a bar, Pierce has remained one of the leagues best players.

Pierce has never been the most flashy player, and early in his career, collectors were paying more for Vince Carter  rookie cards because he was on all the highlights. However, after winning a championship with the Boston Celtics and playing well down the stretches of many big games – collectors realized Pierce is a future NBA Hall of Fame player.

In 1998/99 the licensed card companies were not putting autograph rookie cards in sets but the ‘smaller’ companies like SAGE, Press Pass and Collectors Edge were. 98/99 was one of the first years where serial numbered rookies started to become a real fan favorite … and that would later become standard along with jerseys and autographs. The SPx Finite cards were found in packs that only came in regular Upper Deck boxes … and they were considered condition sensitive as well. Paul’s most valuable and most desirable rookie has always been his SP Authentic #/3500.
