Robert Griffin III was the #2 overall pick by the Washington Redskins in the 2012 NFL Draft. During his college career at Baylor he developed a huge following of fans that will travel with him to the NFL. Upper Deck is the exclusive makers of NCAA Football licensed cards and Baylor fans are paying top dollar for some of the new cards found in 2012 Upper Deck Football. Specifically his Letterman patch autographs that spell out ‘Bears’. I’ve got to imagine a few fans will be trying to complete the entire set with all of the letters.
Each letter is #/45, making a total print run of 225 Griffin III Letterman cards. The first one sold on eBay for $399, so you can expect the price to probably settle in at around $200-400. How he plays on the field will determine any future value. QB’s come and go in the NFL, even top picks, but Griffin III does have a very unique skill set with his speed and above average throwing ability. The Washington Redskins have struggled for many years but have an ownership group willing to spend big money to attract quality talent. Could take several years but Griffin III is a player to watch out for.
