26 year old Canadian, was the rookie sensation in 2005-06, winning the Stanley Cup for the Hurricane’s with some outstanding performances. Sadly last year was plagued with injury, however 2010-11 should see him back as an elite net minder.

He was involved with meeting and mentoring the parents of minor league hockey youth. During this visit he took the time to meet with me at my workplace signing my hockey sweater and taking time for a photo with an elated fan. An unforgettable experience!

Mike matched Maurice “the Rocket” Richards long standing scoring feat by netting 50 goals in a mere 50 games January 24th, 1981 versus the (now defunct)Quebec Nordiques. He also reached the 50 goal milestone in 9 consecutive seasons until a bad back forced him from the game.

Flea Said: Mario Lemieux is the reason I got into ice hockey to begin with.
Has pretty much won everything there is to win in hockey, Stanley Cup, Olympic gold, world cup & canada cup.
Imagine how good he’d have been if he’d played more games?

Schwang17 Said: I played against TJ Oshie in high school. He is from Washington but his family recruited him to play in the tiny tight-knit community of Warroad, MN(Pop. 1,655). They made it to the State Tournament all 4 years he played with Oshie being named to the All-Tournament Team all 4 years.

Warroad has alot of hockey tradition and is one of the best hockey communities in the nation despite its size. They also have 1 of the best high school hockey rivalries in the nation with Roseau, MN. Together, the two small Minnesota towns – who reside 20 miles apart from each other – have combined to win 18 State Championships in the last 50 years. They start out playing against each other as little kids all the way up through high school, and many of them are related to each other and are friends, but that all gets put aside once they get on the ice

RedSox101 Said: Corry Perry Won OHL First Rookie Year Won and olympic Gold Medal in 2010 and was born in peterborugh.

Baseball Nut Said: Mark Messier is considered one of the greatest players to have hit the ice. Some attribute that to his playing time as a teammate of Wayne Gretzky with the Edmonton Oilers and the New York Rangers, but with his talent and leadership skills, he clearly stands on his own merit. He is second on the all-time career list for regular season points, has six Stanley Cup championships and was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame on his first year of eligibility. He currently serves in the front office of the New York Rangers as Special Assistant to the President of the club.

SportsMan Said: Zedno Chara was drafted 56th overall by the New york islanders in the 1996 nhl draft. In his second season with the Senators, 2002-03, Chára made his first All star game appearance and recorded the second hardest shot behind Al MacInnis in the skills competition. in the 2007 all star game, Chara cloked a shot at 100.4 MPH!

HambergerRon Said: Steven Stamkos the center for the Tampa Bay Lightning, was drafted first overall in 08. He is a great player who is only going to get better. thanks-hambergerron

Pitt Said: Daniel Sedin is the brother of Henrik Sedin. Daniel began playing organized hockey with Henrik when they were eight. He added 10 points over 10 games in the 2009 playoffs, helping the Canucks advance to the second round, where they were defeated in six games by the Chicago Blackhawks.

I haven’t opened up a Hockey Box since Sidney Crosby & Alexander Ovechkin were rookies – so it was super exciting to get a chance to open one of Panini newest releases: 2010/11 Certified Hockey. Even before opening the box – the thing that makes this product stand out over other early 10/11 Products is that you can get Autographs of the latest rookies including Taylor Hall, Jordan Eberle, Tyler Seguin, and many others. You will also find names I’m familiar with including hockey legends Steve Yzerman, Mario Lemieux, Brett Hull, Gordie Howe, Patrick Roy and many more.

The three rookies I mention (Hall, Seguin, and Eberle) sell for good money on the secondary market – plus you have some nice jersey cards (the Mirror Parallel Jersey Cards we pulled were cool). I am personally a fan of the base set having jersey & autograph parallel cards. I would have liked to pull a Fabric of the Game Jersey Card – those remind me of Absolute Memorabilia RPM Cards that we pulled last week – and the colorful hockey jerseys look nice in this set. The Throwback Threads (we pulled a Peter Stastny #3) & Certified Legends Autograph Cards are really nice looking veteran/legendary hockey player autographs that non-rookie card collectors should take a look at. The autograph on the Peter Stastny really stands out against the white background of the cards – and its serial numbered to just 100.

The condition of the cards were excellent — because they have a heavy ‘mirror like’ finish – most of the base cards have a distinctive curve to them (Topps Chrome Cards typically curve like this as well). I actually like how they look when you have a bunch of them stacked upright in a box. I didn’t notice any duplicate players except maybe Sidney Crosby (we pulled a Dual Jersey and a low serial # insert) … being that he is one of the most popular players in the game – it was cool to get 2 cards of him. If I was collecting this set personally – I would go after the Autograph Rookie Cards – as there aren’t many auto’s of these players on the market yet. By the box, I actually think its a solid gamble in terms of what else you can purchase from the 2010/11 Season. Panini’s next hockey product will be the value priced: 2010/11 Score Hockey – so I think that this set will stand as a solid buy for a while because the ‘top 3’ rookies currently sell for around as much (or more) than a full box costs.
