If 2009/10 is any indication on what might happen to this years Absolute Basketball set - good things are in the cards. Blake Griffin really took the NBA by storm one year after being drafted by the Clippers with the #1 pick. Before Griffin's NBA debut this season, boxes of 09/10 Absolute were selling for far less. However, this goes to show you the power 1 player can have in driving up the value in box sales - let alone multiple players. 2010/11 Absolute didn't even have a rookie as hot as Tyreke Evans was last season - so it took a little extra to get collectors interest this time around. The best thing about 10/11 Absolute is that it was the very first set to include Kevin Durant Autograph Cards within a Panini Basketball release!! That alone will help re-sale and box price values despite a RC class that played second fiddle to Blake Griffin all season long. As we've seen with all 2009/10 Panini Basketball boxes (they've gone up in price - often WAY over MSRP) That means that there is nothing holding the 10/11 version from doing the same. The NBA in general is a tough league to break into. For the most part, the NBA has been built around Kobe, LeBron, Shaq, D-Wade, Carmelo, and a handful of other players since Michael Jordan retired for the 3rd time. Blake Griffin is pretty rare, but it doesn't mean John Wall, DeMarcus Cousins and others can't become NBA superstars as well in year 2 or 3. |
