2012 Press Pass Football |
|
2012 could be a special year for football cards as one of the most hyped draft prospects in several years, Stanford QB Andrew Luck, is considered the #1 choice. On February 7, 2012 Press Pass announced that Luck will be a Press Pass exclusive. Which means you may not see his autograph in sets such as Sage and Leaf Metal Draft. Press Pass will produce three sets leading up to the 2012 NFL season that will feature Luck autograph cards: Press Pass Football, Press Pass FanFare, and Press Pass Showcase. 2012 Press Pass has 6 autographs per box. Some of them are duds but they will be able to get most of the projected top skill players into the set. Including Andrew Luck, Press Pass has announced they will have Robert Griffin III, Trent Richardson, Michael Floyd, Justin Blackmon, Ryan Tannehill, and LaMichael James included into the product with auto's. Prices for these cards usually get out of the gate somewhat hot. These will be some of the first licensed autographs of these players on the market, but Panini and Topps will be on their heals with some post-draft releases. So for a month or so, the Press Pass, Leaf and Sage cards can sell well and Andrew Luck autographs could be $200+. To put it into some kind of context, a 2011 Press Pass Cam Newton /199 sells for around $125. This is after Newton had a better then expected rookie season. If you pull an Andrew Luck autograph from 2012 Press Pass the time to sell it is during the initial few weeks after the release of the product. |

The 'other' QB in the 2012 NFL Draft, Robert Griffin III has everything you want in a QB. The speed, good arm, had success in college. Some might even prefer Griffin to the more traditional Luck. Hopefully Griffin gets into a good situation and can showcase his skills. Nothing could be better for the football card market then to have 2 young QB's who could be great for many years.... and come into the league at the same time. |

Trent Richardson is a tough runner who has a little bit of burst to finish off runs. NFL running backs can loose that burst in a hurry though, just look at the hobby shelf life for Julius Jones. Richardson's former teammate Mark Ingram was apart of the multi-back New Orleans Saints in 2011, and Ingram's RC card prices were hurt because he just never got enough carries. If Richardson is on a team that will feature him - he could put up good numbers and help both card owners and fantasy football players. |
