2009 Topps Allen & Ginter hit a winner this year with the Creatures, Legend, Myth, and Terror Insert Set. With odds at 1:48 Packs, getting one of these cards out of a pack or box feels pretty sweet.

Griffin– A mythical creature with the body of a lion and the head and wings of an eagle. They are often associated with guarding gold and currency.

Chupacabra-Sightings of this unknown animal are reported in Puerto Rico, Mexico and the United States. Wildlife experts say its just an urban legend.

Cerberus– This creature is a dog with three heads. In Greek mythology this scary dog guards the gates of Hades.

Hydra– Another muti-headed creature. This Greek mythology water beast had nine heads. Hydra’s bad breath would kill it’s enemies.

Werewolf–It would be sweet to at any moment switch into a fierce Werewolf, but ancient mythology says Werewolf’s were cursed.

Fairy– Pictured above, Fairy’s are most often seen as a powerful, and good spirit.

Yeti– Sometimes called the Abominable Snowman, a Yeti is a giant Ape-ish creature whose power and strength are legendary.

Vampire– Best known for drinking the blood of their victims. BramStoker’s 1897 book Dracula, remains popular even today.

Bigfoot– One of the most popular mythical creatures. Sightings have popped up all around the United States of this huge Ape-like giant.

The Loch Ness Monster– In 1933 a London man, George Spicer, claimed to have seen a dragon-like animal swimming in the Loch Ness Lake.

Grendel– If you get the chance, be sure to read Beowulf. In the story, Grendel is feared by everyone except Beowulf.

Unicorn– I was listening to the radio and Barry Zito said that even to this day he is fascinated by Unicorns. Interesting.

The Invisible Man– Ralph Ellison wrote The Invisible Man in 1953 and is a book worth checking out.

Kraken– You wouldn’t want to run into one of these mythical giant sea creature on the open water. These beasts can swallow your boat whole.

Medusa– Be sure not to look into Medusa’s eyes. This Greek mythology female monster will turn you into stone if you do.

Sphinx– When I think of a Sphinx, I think of the Egyptian Pyramids.  The mythical figure is a lion with a human head.

Minotaur– A Minotaur has the head of a bull and the body of a man.

Dragon– This creature spreads across all cultures, and is one of the most popular worldwide.

Leviathan– In Modern Hebrew, the word Leviathan is a whale. Ancient works depict  it as a giant sea monster.

Cyclops– These one-eyed beasts are ones you should stay away from.
