2011 Topps Heritage Baseball
Box Break Date: April 2, 2011
Sponsored By: www.RotoMVP.com
4 Winners – 2 Packs Each
It’s always fun breaking into a box of 2011 Topps Heritage Baseball because it’s a walk down memory lane, this time to 1962. Who could forget the wood grained cards from that era? They are classic looking, like staring into an old Television set it really is a trip back in time. 2011 Heritage is loaded with inserts and all sorts of parallels but many of the pricey cards are tough pulls even out of Hobby boxes. We did get 2 Short Print cards in this box – and those are seeded at 1:3 packs.
Special thanks to www.RotoMVP.com who provided the funds to make this box break happen. Over 40 members of the Sports Card Radio Fan Forum had a chance to take down some cards!
2011 Topps Heritage Buster Posey #218
Buster Posey was the 2010 NL Rookie of the Year and capped that off by leading the S.F. Giants to their first World Series win since moving to San Francisco in 1954. An encore will be tough, but the former Florida State star is loaded with talent and he might just add an MVP to the resume in 2011.
2011 Topps Heritage Brandon Morrow #489 Sp
Cards #426-500 are short printed at 1:3 packs in 2011 Topps Heritage. Morrow is a talented young pitcher for the Toronto Blue Jays and finished last season 10-7 with a 4.49 ERA. Brandon likes to strike guys out and could have a breakout season in 2011 if he gets his control down.
2011 Topps Heritage Prince Fielder #445 Sp
Prince is one of the top power hitters in all of baseball and this is a nice picture of him with the beard shaved and a big smile on his face. Fielder became the youngest player to ever hit 50 Home Runs in a season in 2007.
2011 Topps Heritage Mona Lisa NF-3
This card is apart of the News Flash Backs insert set that have retail odds of 1:12 packs. The famous Mona Lisa painting went on display at the National Gallery of Art, located in Washington DC in 1962. It was the first time since it had left France in over 50 years.
2011 Leaf Trading Cards Promo Pack
Break Date: March 23, 2011 – Las Vegas, NV
6 Cards Per Sealed Bubble Mailer
Obtained at the 2011 Las Vegas Industry Summit
Special thanks goes out to Leaf Trading Cards for handing out this promotional pack of cards at the 2011 Las Vegas Sports Card Industry Summit. We opened this pack in Las Vegas and thank goodness we did because the hits we got from this pack were of the caliber of ladies you’d see in Sin City. In addition to the attractive females we got in this pack, we also got three cards from the upcoming 2011 Leaf Metal Draft Football set that will be released on April 1st.
I like the Leaf Metal Draft Football cards as the top choice of pre-draft NFL sets that are releasing this month. Press Pass and Sage also have offerings but the Leaf cards feature a thicker card stock as well as every card being autographed leaves you with no wasted inserts and base cards. All of the top projected NFL Draft picks have signed for all three sets and despite the ongoing NFL lockout – these cards will be released as scheduled.
All of these cards will be won by members of the Sports Card Radio Forum. Sign up here to win!

Khloe is not only famous for being apart of the Kardashian sisterhood, but she is also the wife of L.A. Lakers superstar Lamar Odom. Khloe has appeared on NBC’s Celebrity Apprentice as well as the Keeping up with the Kardashian’s show with her famous family.
Autograph cards of Khole typically sell for around $20-40 on the secondary market which might mean her autograph sells for more then her husband Lamar!
2011 Industry Summit Benchwarmer

Roderick has appeared in Playboy magazine as well as competed on NBC’s Celebrity Apprentice. She even spent some time on the hit TV show Baywatch in 2000.

2011 Leaf Metal Draft Preview
Cam Newton All American Base Card #IS1
These are preview cards for the upcoming 2011 Leaf Metal Draft Football set. Every card in the upcoming set will be autographed and these cards feature a thicker card stock then the ones being used by other pre-draft sets Press Pass and Sage.
Cam Newton is projected to go anywhere from #1 to into the 2nd round of the 2011 NFL Draft depending who you ask.
2011 Leaf Metal Draft Preview
Mark Ingram Base Card #IS2
Ingram will probably be the first running back drafted in 2011 after a stellar carrier at Alabama. He is a tough, strong runner who could make an impact right away to any team he goes to.
2011 Leaf Metal Draft Preview
A.J. Green Base Card #IS3
A.J. Green and Julio Jones will be the first two WR’s drafted and both have electrifying ability and are guys I want on my fantasy team. Hopefully A.J. Green ends up on a team with a good QB so that he has a chance to show his skills.

These Jumbo boxes of 2011 Topps Series 1 Baseball can provide hours of enjoyment for the hardcore collector, no matter what cards you pull. If you enjoy sorting cards – these are the boxes for you. Chances are you will end up with a complete base set of 300 cards – which we did in this box – as well as have tons of inserts to go through when you get done. Jacoby Ellsbury Topps 60 Jersey Card #T60R-JE
Hit number one from our box was this Topps 60 Jersey card of Red Sox star Jacoby Ellsbury. The cool thing about this card is that I learned that Ellsbury is the all-time single season stolen base leader in Red Sox franchise history with 70 in 2009.
Glen Perkins Topps 60 Autograph #T60A-GP
Perkins not only went to High School in Minnesota, he also attended the University of Minn. in St. Paul and then was drafted by the Twins in the 1st round of the 2004 MLB Draft. He had a really good season in 2008, when he went 12-4 but after that he has split time in the minors and big leagues.
C.C. Sabathia Glove Leather MGL-CCS
These cards are interesting, they are manufactured glove leather cards and some collectors like them, some don’t. It’s not game used or event used, just something Topps made and put C.C.’s name on it.
2011 Topps Diamond Giveaway Codes
A few of the winners have let me know what they received from the Diamond Giveaway – here are the cards our Fan Forum Members got:
2011 Diamond City Cuts Baseball
Manufactured By: Tri-City Sports PL
Box Break Date: January 25, 2011
Contest Winner: Kyle07
I get very excited when new products like 2011 Tri-City Sports Diamond City Cuts Baseball hit the market because it gives collectors more chances to hit that big autograph. There are plenty of huge names in this debut set by Tri-City, including opportunities to score incredible autograph redemption items like an Albert Pujols Baseball.
One thing I am particularly impressed with this set is the looks of the cards, especially the Manager Rivals Dual Autograph we pulled of Dusty Baker and Jim Tracy. Sometimes cut signature cards will have part of the autograph cut off because the autograph is too large to fit into the small space. I like the fact that Tri-City decided to double side these cards so that the full autograph can be displayed in tact for the most part. The Dusty Baker side even allows for the inscribed ’05 to be shown – which is really cool.
There is a lot to like about this set and the best place to find the checklist of cards is on the Tri-City Sports PL official website. Some of the names I was most excited to see included were Bill Clinton and Tiger Woods. Those are two guys you don’t often see in any card set so it gives collectors an opportunity to get autographs of those two American legends. There are many more big things to come for Tri-City during 2011, including a Series 2 of the Diamond City Cuts product late in the year. Look for a flagship Tri-City Sports release sometime during the spring.
2010 Panini Certified Football
Box Break Date: January 19, 2011
Price: $5.00 Per Pack – Limit 1 Spot
Product Checklist: 2010 Panini Certified Football Checklist
2. Steal Second
3. R.M. (NorCal)
6. Topps Guy
From time to time we will do paid box breaks – but with some free equity involved. There are 10 packs per 2010 Panini Certified Football Box and we had 10 Sports Card Radio Fan Forum Members pony up $5.00 for one pack each. We chipped in the rest as these boxes run about $70-85 on the web. Panini America has been so generous with giving us several boxes of product for free this year, we thought it was only necessary to return the favor and purchase some boxes ourselves. Look for more paid box breaks in the near future.
There are many collectors out there that might have been bummed with this box. We take a different philosophy when opening product here at Sports Card Radio. Just because we don’t pull a card that we could turn around and sell on eBay for the entire box price doesn’t mean we are sending angry emails to Panini. That seems to be the norm these days, which isn’t what collecting cards is all about in our eyes. We look at opening boxes much like going to the casino and gambling. One never expects to walk into a Las Vegas casino and walk out with thousands of dollars, but the possibility is there. The same could be said when we open up cards – we are just are enjoying the experience – the same way I would when on the strip in Vegas.
If you want to make money buying and selling cards – ripping open boxes of cards to try and turn around and sell the cards on eBay or another venue is a losing venture. Don’t believe ANY story you hear of someone doing it successfully. Most products will not “equal” what you paid for them and collectors shouldn’t expect card manufactures to change that. The single card market, at least at this present time, is a ‘buyers’ market and until trading cards become wildly popular again, that will remain the case for the foreseeable future.
