Prospect Card Checklist

2007 Bowman Chrome Tim Lincecum Autograph RC

The Bowman Chrome Prospect cards fall 2 per Hobby Pack and are numbered #BC111 – BC256. The cards #1 – 110 are found in regular 2007 Bowman product. The only prospect of note from the cards #1 – 110 is probably Desmond Jennings, otherwise the Bowman Chrome Prospects found in this product are some of the best you will find in any 2007 set. The most collectible cards are #221 – #256 which are the Autograph variations. There are several rare refractor cards within this set that have sold for $1,000’s in the past including Tim Lincecum, Joba Chamberlain, and Fernando Martinez.

A funny story about this product is that I Pre-Ordered 2 boxes for a customer back when I owned a card shop. When the product came out he came in and picked up his 2 boxes. A few days later he came back in with both boxes filled with all the cards; the autographs were in cases and all the base cards were in sleeves. He asked me, “How do you think I did on these two boxes?” … I picked up the 1st Autograph card he pulled … it was card #221 Fernando Martinez Refractor Autograph #/500. I opened the second box, there was card #238 Tim Lincecum Autograph. I looked at him and said, “I think you did pretty good!”

2007 Bowman Chrome Alex Rodriguez Road To 500 #300
This set was was a box loader/topper feature during the 2007 Topps Products. These cards #276 – #300 can only be found in Bowman Chrome Box Loader Packs. The other cards can be found in numerous other Topps products. Since ARod’s admission to using Steroids during his ‘Texas Rangers Years’ the value and significance of these cards has dropped over the years. A similar set was produced by Upper Deck for Mark McGwire when he was chasing the single season Home Run record as well. As time passes, it will be interesting to see how collectors view both the Single Season & Career Home Run Record held by Barry Bonds which possibly will be broken by Alex Rodriguez at some point. The current price of this set means collectors have spoken.

2007 Bowman Chrome Baseball Box
The original packaging and Topps Promotion of the product included 2006 #1 Draft Pick Luke Hochevar and 2006 #2 Draft Pick Greg Reynolds in most of the sell sheets and information. As it turns out, Tim Lincecum was a late addition to the product and packaging. In fact, as of March 2010 – the Topps Official Website still did not have card #217 as Tim Lincecum.
