Playoff Contenders Football has long been a popular set among collectors. The Autograph Rookie Ticket cards have always been some of the best and most collectible RC cards on the football market. Typically Playoff will Short Print SP some of the Rookie Ticket Auto cards and those are always a fun addition to this product each year. In 2009 -34- RPS Rookie Ticket Cards will feature On-Card Autographs adding to the value of the already popular RC Ticket design.
Each box contains at minimum 4 autograph cards with at least 1 being on-card. Given the strength of this years Rookie Class and the addition of possible Brett Favre, Dan Marino, John Elway, Troy Aikman and other HOF Autograph cards your chances of getting 4 'dud' autograph cards are less than previous years.

For a set to not have any jersey or memorabilia pieces in it and still be priced at $120 + Per Box, lets just say the Autographs in the set better be good! For the most part Playoff Contenders relies on a strong RC class to bring in the big $$ but you do see a mix of Hall Of Fame / Legend Autographs in the checklist. I wouldn't say that the 2009 Class is blowing the doors off RC card values like Adrian Peterson, Chris Johnson and Matt Ryan did, but you do have some nice Rookies that may become year 2 or 3 superstars.
I like the design for the most part but feel that its possibly a little cluttered and takes away from the autograph. However, as you can see with the original On-Card Auto design...Peyton Manning's signature blends in with the blue in his uniform and the blue background. This years golden boy Matthew Stafford has a nice signature but the word "ROOKIE" doesn't make the best back-drop for on-card signatures in my opinion.

Top 3 Things I'm Watching For 2009 Playoff Contenders Football
#1 - SP Rookie Checklist / Print Runs
Its possible that all the ON-Card autograph rookies will be 'SP' compared to the sticker auto versions. Either way it will be fun to discover which rookie cards are in short supply. You always see a boost in price no matter who the player is and typically it comes down if its not a top NFL player after a year or two. Don't over spend for SP's unless you really like the player or feel he has huge upside potential.
#2 - The Box Price
I can't imagine this set reaching the heights of 2007 and 2008 but you never know. I feel that if you wait until SP Authentic Football, Playoff National Treasures and Upper Deck Exquisite you may be able to scoop a box of this at a better price than when its first live.

#3 - Box Break Videos
Always fun to see someone else spend money! We'll have the breaks when they go live on YouTube and you'll find them in our Box Break Video Section.
