CardsHQ Co-Founder Ryan Van Oost Steps Away From Atlanta Card Shop
Ryan Van Oost, one of three co-founders of CardsHQ, is leaving the Atlanta-based card shop. Geoff Wilson confirmed the departure in an Instagram post on Monday.
Wilson, Van Oost, and Carter Musgrave launched CardsHQ together in 2023 and opened the 14,000-square-foot retail location at 3101 Cobb Parkway SE in February 2024. The shop was billed as one of the largest card stores in the country at the time, combining retail sales, live card breaks, online auctions, and in-store events.

Wilson said Van Oost “has decided to pursue other opportunities” as the company enters what Wilson called its “next chapter of growth.” Wilson and Musgrave will continue to run the business.
No additional details were given about the circumstances of the departure or whether Van Oost’s ownership stake has been bought out.
The leadership change comes after a turbulent stretch for CardsHQ. The shop was hit by a $20,000 Apple Pay fraud scam, was found to have purchased $7,400 in stolen trading cards from a suspect, and one of its breakers was arrested.
Recent public sentiment toward the shop has also been mixed. Sports card YouTuber Logan Ward called CardsHQ “a bust” in a widely viewed video, citing concerns about the in-store experience and pricing. The review added to a growing chorus of collectors questioning whether the operation has lived up to its early hype.
Wilson and Musgrave have not announced any operational changes. Van Oost has not publicly commented on his departure beyond Wilson’s post.
