TOP 10 TRADING CARD HOT LIST
– Football Cards on eBay-
May 2010

1 – Tim Tebow Autograph Rookie Cards

Sales of Tim Tebow Autograph RC Cards have remained steady in the month after the Broncos selected him in the 1st round of the 2010 NFL Draft. His Press Pass and Panini Prestige cards may leave some collectors wanting more, but it has given his rabid fanbase a chance at obtaining a certified auto.

Tim Tebow’s regular – non autographed – rookie cards have been strong sellers as well. In late May, Sports Card report wrote about a 2010 Panini Prestige Tim Tebow SP Rookie that sold for $26.00 on eBay. Topps and Upper Deck (without a NFLPA License) will also produced cards in 2010. As more product comes out, it should soften the price for a Tebow Rookie and/or autograph. Look to sell early if you pull a 2010 Tim Tebow card.

2 – Sam Bradford Rookie Cards

It was hard selecting the #2 spot, because none of the other players stood out as much as Tebow. Bradford has a good fan club of his own from Oklahoma, but it’s hard to match the love Tebow gets. Early sales of Sam Bradford RC cards came out hot and as expected pulled back some.

Collectors are being cautious because of past injury concerns and the fact that the St. Louis Rams have not been a good football team in several years. It will be boom or bust for Bradford, so be ready to gamble if you are in the market for his 2010 rookie cards.

3 – High End Brett Favre Cards

Brett Favre doesn’t sign a whole lot of autographs for card companies and I’ve noticed a lot of nice low serial numbered auto/game used cards on eBay recently. Exquisite, National Treasures, all kinds of good ones, usually numbered /10 or less.

I’ve talked to a few Vikings fans and they really want Brett Favre back under center in 2010. I hope he comes back too. He can still play and is a force in the hobby world as well.

4 – Jimmy Clausen 2010 Rookie Cards

The Carolina Panthers are in desperate need of a QB and they nabbed Jimmy Clausen in the 2nd round of the 2010 NFL Draft. Sales of his rookie cards have been very solid – I guess it never hurts to be a QB from Notre Dame.

There are some weapons in Carolina at the WR and RB position. Clausen looked good at times during his college career, and he might get an opportunity to play very early in the 2010 NFL season.

5 – Aaron Rodgers Rookie & Autographed Cards

Packers fans are ready to get back on the field and they love their main man Aaron Rodgers. His rookie cards have been getting quite a few watchers and bidders on eBay, and his high end autograph stuff has been very sought after as well.

2005 wasn’t the best year for rookies, so collectors are flocking to get some of Rodgers stuff while they still can. If he wins a Super Bowl in Green Bay – he will own that town.

6 – Mark Sanchez Rookie Cards

The king of the 2009 NFL Draft Class…. so far…. has been New York Jets QB Mark Sanchez. He led the Jets deep into the AFC playoffs, and the team is primed and re-loaded for another shot at the Lombardi Trophy. Sanchez is well liked…. for now… in New York and sales of his 2009 Upper Deck Exquisite Patch Auto Cards came out red hot.

7 – C.J. Spiller Rookie Cards

I recently watched an interview with Bills RB Marshawn Lynch on a local Bay Area TV Station, and Lynch said he wants out of Buffalo, but the team told him they will not trade him. It’s too bad for Spiller fans, because it looks like the Bills backfield will have many RB’s getting the ball.

If Spiller starts breaking off huge runs like Titans RB Chris Johnson did, then you can bet he will be the main man in Buffalo. Sales of Spiller’s rookie card have done better then I thought, but running backs always get a lot of attention. I think he would have had more hobby love if he went to a more prominent team, but if he runs well – he can make his name anywhere.

8 – Drew Brees Rookie Cards & Autographs

It will be very difficult for the New Orleans Saints to repeat as Super Bowl Champions in 2010. They will have the target on their back and defensive coordinators from around the NFL are planning right now how to stop the Saints high powered offense.

The win catapulted Brees into the elite NFL QB’s club and his autograph and rookie cards got a huge boost. Look for sales to remain strong as long as he remains one of the top handful of quarterbacks in the league. He is a legend in New Orleans and will have rock star status for the rest of his life.

9 – 1935 National Chicle Bronko Nagurski PSA 5

This card was the talk of the vintage card world when it hit auction in early May. 100 watchers later, the closing bid ended at $5,601.00.  Sports Card Forum even had a contest running where you can win 500 SCF CardCash by guessing the final price of this card. Visit the contest page for all the details.

PSA 5 is a very high grade for any card from the 1935 National Chicle Football set, and Bronko Nagurski is one of the most sought after cards.

10 – Peyton Manning Rookie and Autographed Cards

Even though Peyton Manning and the Indianapolis Colts came up short in the Super Bowl, collectors are still bidding on Peyton Manning rookie cards. Sales have been moderate, but have not slipped in value much despite the loss. High end autographed cards have also seen high dollar sales.
