TOP 10 TRADING CARD HOT LIST
– Football Cards on eBay-
March 2010

1 – Mark Sanchez Rookie Cards

Sanchez led the Jets deep into the NFL playoffs and that gave a boost to the sales of his cards which had stalled out a bit when he was throwing INT’s all over the place in the middle of the season. Sanchez has surpassed the sales of #1 2009 NFL Draft pick Matthew Stafford. In fact, you don’t see Stafford on this list because the discrepancy in value between his RC’s and Sanchez’s are significant.

Sports Card Report – Reported Sales of Mark Sanchez Rookie Cards –

2009 Sp Authentic Mark Sanchez Auto NFL LOGO 1/1 RC $2,650.00
2009 Sp Authentic Mark Sanchez Platinum Auto Patch  $1,500.00

2 – Tim Tebow 2010 Press Pass Autograph

This guy has a serious fan club coming with him into the NFL. What type of player and QB Tim Tebow becomes in the NFL is a mystery. It’s also up in the air where he will go on draft day. I’ve even heard some reports saying that he might make it into the 1st round.

Regardless, Tim Tebow’s 2010 Press Pass Autographs are selling in the $100-150 range, and that is very strong for a player who many believe will never be a starting QB.

The 2010 Press Pass Inscription Autographs, including the one with “God Bless” are very popular with Tebow collectors and have been selling quite well.

3 – Drew Brees 2001 Contenders Rookie

Got to still have Brees ranked fairly high because his stuff has really sky rocketed in value after the Saints Super Bowl win. When you compare the prices to what Brees rookie cards and autographs used to sell for, then it really highlights just how big a win it was for Brees collectors.

His most popular rookie card on eBay appears to be his 2001 Playoff Contenders Autograph Rookie Ticket. These auctions were getting over 75 watchers and hundreds of page views during the week of the Super Bowl.

4 – 2009 Upper Deck Exquisite Football Cards

The build up has been brewing on Twitter for weeks. Upper Deck even gave collectors a glimpse into the pack out process and so far, sales for the boxes have remained strong. The single card sales of 2009 Exquisite are a little sluggish from what I’ve seen, but not enough to not warrant a high ranking on any hot list.

5 – Ndamukong Suh 2010 Press Pass Autographs

Anytime I see a defensive players autograph sell in the $60.00 range, and it’s a Press Pass card no less, this guy has to be on the hot list. He has got a following from Nebraska who are getting on eBay and bidding up his Press Pass Auto’s.

6 – 1976 Topps Walter Payton Rookie Card

These are always some of the most watched football cards on eBay, they pop up on my list all the time. His autograph and game used cards are also selling very, very well. I would compare the lore and legacy of Payton in a similar way that baseball card fans love Mickey Mantle.

7 – Jimmy Clausen 2010 Press Pass Autographs

Much like Tebow and Suh, Clausen is riding some of his NCAA Notre Dame love with how high some of his 2010 Press Pass Autographs are selling for. We will see where he ends up on draft day and that will determine his fate in the NFL more then anything else.
NOTE: See Brady Quinn

8 – Michael Crabtree 2009 Exquisite Rookie Card

These have been red hot right out of the gate. 2 four color patch rookies /99 have sold for more then $450.00.  That’s more then the Stafford 2 colors have been selling for.

Take a look at a write up I did on the two sales, and take a look at the comparison between Crabtree and 2008 rookie, DeSean Jackson. A nice 08 Jackson Exquisite costs about $125.00.  Crabtree sure has some fans getting on eBay and winning his cards!

9 – Sam Bradford 2010 Press Pass Autographs

New Seattle Seahawks coach Pete Carrol said that Bradford looked great in his pro day. He had to battle some injuries at Oklahoma, but if he comes out of the gate hot, look for his cards to explode if Tebow and Clausen struggle.

10 – Chris Johnson Rookie Cards

You’ll have to take a look for yourself just how high the 2008 Chris Johnson Exquisite Rookies got when he was making his charge for 2,000 yards.

Those are serial numbered to /199, and the price move was triple digits which is very significant in trading cards, especially considering it happened in a 2 month time span.
