Haters are going to hate. Big Baller Brand owner LaVar Ball signed 200 cards for Leaf Trading Cards and each one is a conversation piece.
Leaf listed the cards for $60 each on eBay and sold out in less than a minute. Each buyer got 1 random autograph of Ball.
Some quick fingered buyers relisted the cards on eBay and a few sold for over $300.
The cards generated significant buzz from national media outlets.

Leaf got more people talking about basketball cards in 24 hours than Panini America did all year.
Panini, the exclusive maker of NBA licensed cards, suffered through a 2016-17 NBA rookie class that didn’t see any player set the hobby world on fire.
Collector reaction poured in on Twitter
[pullquote align=”normal”]This, too me, doesn’t help the hobby! It signals how desperate the hobby is getting! We’ll just add more junk autos to the junk autos! [/pullquote]
[pullquote align=”normal”]This hurts my heart. [/pullquote]
[pullquote align=”normal”]Do what y’all have to do to make money and stay relevant, but…inscription with a curse word on it? Come on now…kids do still buy cards. [/pullquote]
[pullquote align=”normal”]What a sad day for card collecting… [/pullquote]
[pullquote align=”normal”]Leaf has every right to produce this product. You have every right not to buy. [/pullquote]
[pullquote align=”normal”]What a joke, good luck selling those haha [/pullquote]
[pullquote align=”normal”]I’d pay $60 to never hear from him again. [/pullquote]
[pullquote align=”normal”]People so mad hahaha go Lavar [/pullquote]
[pullquote align=”normal”]This is the absolute height of idiocy and the downfall of collectibles. Is Leaf that hard up for money to turn to this?? [/pullquote]
[pullquote align=”normal”]When you think Leaf is the bottom of the barrel they then go under the barrel [/pullquote]
Leaf Cards CEO Brian Gray took to Twitter to issue a message to all the haters and trolls out there:
[pullquote align=”normal”]From our CEO:
I have to be honest. It makes me want to puke when some collectors tell other collectors they are stupid for what they collect.
If you don’t like something, don’t buy it. BUT, when you troll for sport and because it isn’t your cup of tea, that is indeed sad.
